Version Description
Second-grade students in dance class establish use of the body through structured and unstructured movement, exploring the elements of dance through a variety of techniques, forms, and dance traditions. As they create, interpret, and replicate steps, movement patterns, shapes, rhythms, and dances inspired by a variety of stories, music, ideas, cultures, images, and technologies, students stretch their imaginations, strengthen their bodies, and learn to make choices in a risk-free environment. Instruction fosters skills and knowledge that enable students to respond to dance in ways that facilitate creativity with artistic expression, self-discipline, and a connection to other content areas and cultures.General Notes
Special Note: This class may include opportunities to participate in extra rehearsals and performances beyond the school day.English Language Development ELD Standards Special Notes Section:
Teachers are required to provide listening, speaking, reading and writing instruction that allows English language learners (ELL) to communicate for social and instructional purposes within the school setting. For the given level of English language proficiency and with visual, graphic, or interactive support, students will interact with grade level words, expressions, sentences and discourse to process or produce language necessary for academic success. The ELD standard should specify a relevant content area concept or topic of study chosen by curriculum developers and teachers which maximizes an ELL’s need for communication and social skills.
