Using the case study, "A Battle of Will & Well Being" (see CPALMS Resource ID # 219822), students will explore the psychological reactions patients may have to recurring illnesses, such as denial, anger, and paranoia, and analyze how healthcare professionals can respond effectively. Through reading a case study, discussing open-ended questions, and collaborating on a revised patient-care scenario, students will develop strategies for empathetic and professional communication. By the end of the lesson, students will reflect on how these skills apply to real-world healthcare settings.
